Aeras is a non-profit product development organization dedicated to the development of effective tuberculosis (TB) vaccines and biologics to prevent TB across all age groups in an affordable and sustainable manner. Aeras utilizes its broad capabilities and technologies in collaboration with numerous partners and stakeholders to support the development of vaccines and other biopharmaceuticals to address TB and other significant public health needs of underserved populations.

Aeras’ President and CEO is Jim Connolly. Aeras is governed by a Board of Directors. Three technical advisory groups provide guidance to Aeras’ scientific decision making.

|
A new TB vaccine will be essential to meet the global target of eliminating TB by 2050. At Aeras, we are moving forward with new TB vaccine candidates as fast as possible. Current estimates show a new vaccine could be available by the end of the decade.

|
Aeras operates from its headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, and an office in Cape Town, South Africa. Aeras partners with academic research institutes in India, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Switzerland and US to conduct clinical trials.

• Why
|
2 billion people worldwide are infected with TB. TB killed 1.4 million people in 2010. TB is a leading cause of death among those also infected with HIV.
